May 26, 2014 To Port Douglas

Fly day today. This is a big country, about the size of the USA, and so we have a two plus hour flight from Adelaide to Brisbane with a second leg to Cairns (Cans in Aussie talk – to hell with the ir!). Another couple of hours and we get a look from the plane at the Great Barrier Reef country. Looking out the window of the plane we get the feeling we have landed in Maui. It is just beautiful. A 30 minute drive and we arrive at our delightful boutique hotel in Port Douglas called Peninsula Boutique Hotel. It is so cute and we can hear and see the ocean through the palm trees.

We are here two nights and the first night we travel by foot to the downtown beach town. This is a tiny location and apparently a favorite for the rich and famous at one time. We do not see any down grade as we find the location and restaurants just great. Our hotel is on record to please and job well done. Washer and dryer on each of 3 floors. Are you kidding me? Clean underwear tonight!
