Give Us Our Daily Bread

Tuesday, Clyde here...

So, we have to pack and check out of our hotel early today. Packing for the market, jungle, mountains and wine tasting is a task that is a challenge but somehow we got our survival gear in a small suitcase and turned over the rest of our entire assets to, I don't know, some guy in the hotel and he said thank-you "SeƱor" so I am sure it is all good.

Here comes Liz, our guide to the fresh markets or Santiago and I mean Markets with an "s". 12 square city blocks full of amazing produce and people hawking their stuff and thank goodness for our guide Liz cause she breezes through and explains all we are looking at and how the folks prepare it.

We almost wear out our new shoes walking and still the fish market across the river awaits us. We roll up our pants to avoid being mistaken for grouper fish for the rest of the trip and we see all the creatures from the sea laying freshly out on ice. With our fish selected we head for the house of Liz but first a mandatory stop at the local ice creme parlor. Get this - more ice cream sold in Chile than wine! I like these people!! Off to watch while Krimhilde and Tina help prepare and great things are happening in the kitchen.

Story short, the food was amazing, we found a Pinot that needs to be in my glass again and we headed off with a smile for the airport and the next adventure - Jungle. I wonder how Liz would prepare a South American Guinea Pig like like they do in ol' Peru....

Tina here....

It's the next morning now, we had a 4 hour flight to Lima last night and this morning we catch our flight to the Amazon. I'm probably enjoying the last internet connection for the next 4 days. I will definately be having some form of internet withdrawal by the time we arrive in Cusco.
