Tina here....
We are in Santiago and planning on venturing out today to see the sights. We are sitting at the Executive Lounge at the Ritz Carlton (all those Marriott points finally paid off - thanks to all of our wonderful, wonderful clients).
We lost JIm
So...here we are all wanting to go for a walk and it's like Weekend with Bernie. Last night when we got on the plane we all took a half of an Ambien. Jim woke up about 1/2 way through the flight and took another 1/2. So...here we are, all wanting to go for a walk and it's like Weekend with Bernie, Jim cannot keep his eyes open!
Clyde Here -
You have no doubt heard of week-end with Bernie? We had a day with Jim who perhaps overdid the sleep aid and ended up asleep whenever we stopped for a bit. Got shopping? Yep, they do here in Santiago and that means shopping for Krim and Tina and sitting for Jim and Clyde and that means sleeping for Jim. What does Clyde do, well, he is looking for ice cream cause they do a great job with ice cream in Chile. Ice cream found (Yum), Jim is awake and shopping is successful. The verdict on the Ritz Carlton? Do it and do soon cause we have been treated like royalty with complimentary food, wine and smiles from everyone. We decided to do dinner at the Ritz and, know what? The food, waiters and everyone around made it a priority to make us happy and dang if it did not work. So, we are deciding how to pack for tomorrow and our week in the jungle and then on to Machu Pichu. Whatever happens we are meeting tomorrow morning with a foodie to tour the food markets and once we find the perfect food and whatever, off we go to her place to prepare and to be amazed. Then it is off to Lima and brace ourselves to meet the jungle. Santiago, we look forward to seeing you again in a week or so. Via con dios
Tina here...
Hey, we had a fabulous night and dinner with Alejandro. I must say, he knows the Chilean wines and picked some fabulous wines for dinner. What a great time hearing Krim and Alejandro conversing in German - - thank goodness the wine was fantastic... LOve this country. Love the people. Love the food and love the wine. Jim and I could live here. Fabulous, fabulous time...
Tomorrow it is off to the market with Liz Caskey..She started her first company in catering while attending the Escuela de Sommelier in Santiago in 2004. The wine bug bit so hard, she joined forces with her husband, visual artist and professional photographer, Francisco Ramírez, to create Liz Caskey Culinary & Wine Experiences. Should be fun.... If you are interested here is a little more about Liz.

As soon as we are done, we will hit the road and move on to Peru...returning to Santiago in about a week.. Tomrrow night is Lima and the next day is the beginning of our Amazon trip.. HOT! PS...we were introduced to Pisco tonight. It is a lovely drink of sour and sweet and some pretty potent alcohol...
Later, the Ritz Carlton bed is calling me...
You know, the second "Bernie's" showed Bernie responded to calypso music. Maybe next time find some local cumbia musicians to bring some life to the party.
