April 9, 2018: Out to the Aegean Sea

You can drive but we all decide to walk to the boat and the walk includes 300 steps down to the harbor.  100 of the 300 steps involves dancing around the donkey droppings and the occasional donkey.  You can walk, you can drive or you can ride a donkey.  We keep walking and find our boat.

We have a beautiful catamaran for just the six of us and a crew of 3.  The crew is mellow and we join the vibe as we motor out to sea.  The crew is a couple and a hired hand and they make us happy with drinks.  We hug the island and between two bits of land in the center of the caldera we are given the chance to swim up a channel of mixed warm and cold water.  Only Javier takes the bait while we cheer him from the safety of the boat.  Our hosts fix an amazing dinner of prawns and pork and it is wonderful.

Now we head to a special vantage point to see the famous sunsets of Santorini.  The sun, the clouds and sea all cooperate and we get a beauty of a sunset.  It is so beautiful and relaxing and we so enjoy the company of each other in a blissful experience.  Just to make it a bit more wonderful, Krim talks the crew into playing and singing for us and after a bit more encouraging we are treated to old folk songs of Greece and it is special.  It is a shame the day has to end but it helps to know we are driving back and our own hot bath awaits.  What a day!
